As WWE programming continues to improve week-on-week, the latest Raw and Smackdown was no different as the first round of the King of the Ring tournament started with some good matches with Raw ending with new tag team champions.

The WWE Wednesday night wars will commence

WWE’s third brand NXT has been airing weekly on the WWE network, but from Wednesday 18th September the yellow brand will air on the USA network, conveniently at the same timeslot as new wrestling promotion AEW which will broadcast on TNT. It seems that only WWE want this war and Vince McMahon will do whatever he can to kill the new company. Personally, I just want some friendly competition between both promotions and we get high quality wrestling from both shows.

King of the Ring 2019 has arrived

After last week’s announcement that the King of the Ring will be returning to WWE, the first round kicked off with the opening matches taking place on Raw and Smackdown. The four men who advanced to the next stage include Samoa Joe, Cedric Alexander, Elias and Andrade who beat Cesaro, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens and Apollo Crews respectively. The remaining opening round bouts will take place next week. My pick to take the crown is Drew McIntyre.

Rollins and Strowman claim tag team gold

What started at as a United States Championship match between AJ Styles and Braun Strowman, soon escalated into a Raw tag team title match between Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson taking on Seth Rollins and Strowman for the main event of Raw. Most were expecting Rollins and Strowman to implode and lose this match, however, the mismatch team managed to fight off the club to capture the Raw tag team belts. This unexpected twist makes for fascinating storytelling and entices the audience to see what happens next week.
