The Houston Texans were hotly tipped to be one of the NFL’s worst teams this year, apparently they didn’t get the message because the Texans are 3-3 and in contention for the AFC South.
With a rookie QB in CJ Stroud, and a team with a lot of heart, rookie Head Coach DeMeco Ryans has a team that is pulling together and playing quality ball.
“When the game was on the line and we needed it most, guys stepped up,” Ryans said. “It’s tough to win in this league, but it was awesome to see the way our guys grinded it out and the way they stepped up right there in the end.”
TEXANS ON VERGE OF SPECIAL SEASON
Texans rookie QB is one of those responding well to Ryans leadership, “I could see it in his eyes that he cared about how I was going to respond,” Stroud said. “That means a lot that he has trust and faith in me and I’m going to have trust and faith in myself, too. I knew that Baun made a good play and they weren’t going to get me again.”
It’s this belief, and the stellar play of arguably the best rookie QB of the season that has the Texans right in playoff contention. Houston are in the leagues top-5 in passing, a feat seemingly unthinkable when the season.
Just how far can DeMeco Ryans take this young group?
