Patriots desperate QB struggles on show again

The New England Patriots constant reshuffling of the QB position was on show again today as QB Malik Cunningham was waived just 10 days after signing.

Cunningham had previously been on the practice squad, but was signed to the active roster as a flaccid Patriots offense looked for some kind of spark. It has been a dire season for the 2-5 Patriots, with their only real bright spot coming at the weekend with a win over the Bills.

PATRIOTS LOOKING FOR A SPARK

It was supposed to be different this season with New England adding veteran offensive-guru Bill O’Brien to the coaching staff as OC, but Mac Jones has not rebounded from his horror show of last season. Cunningham was never going to start, but he was used as a gadget QB as New England tried to make something happen.

After last weeks game O’Brien said of Cunningham, “You put together a package of plays and try not to overload him, and they’re plays within our system, so these aren’t brand new plays. He’s a very bright guy, he does a good job, he knows the plays and he’s gotten better every week.”

However, the Patriots are now apparently going to look in another direction for the spark that could save their season.
