49ers running back Christian McCaffrey has won the NFL’s offensive player of the year award.
Christian McCaffrey is looking to become only the sixth player to win offensive player of the year and the Super Bowl in the same year.
“Football is the greatest game on the planet. It’s the biggest team sport in the world. And we’re so lucky to get to enjoy it and the fact that I get to go to go to battle with you guys every week is one of my greatest honors because of the way you guys play football and inspire me every single day. I’m not up here without you, I love you guys. We got one more, let’s go finish it the right way,” he said.
Christian McCaffrey is finally being appreciated
It’s not that long ago that the Twitter “experts” called the Christian McCaffrey trade an awful deal. McCaffrey was traded for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th round picks. McCaffrey led the league in rushing yards and tied for the lead with rushing touchdowns.
Earlier in the season 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and praised McCaffrey for his performances. “I’ve been impressed since he’s gotten here,” Shanahan said. “The guy is insane in how hard he prepares, not just in the season, but I saw him like a week after the season last year, and he had a drink with me, and he actually had a second one.”
“He is like, ‘Well, only got four more days left, so I’m going to have a couple for the next four days.’ I’m like, ‘Dude, we just finished like five days ago.’ He gives himself like 12 days off, and he is right back to like preparing and every aspect he goes through.”
