Zach Ertz and the Arizona Cardinals parted ways this week as the veteran looks to join a playoff contending team to finish out the season. And he may just be heading back to his old stomping ground Philly.
With Ertz clearing waivers he’s free to join any team he chooses, and while some teams would be an intriguing fit: Dallas (!) and Miami spring to mind, Philadelphia seems to be cropping up a lot on the rumour mill.
ZACH ERTZ BACK TO PHILLY FOR A SUPER BOWL?
While the Eagles have a great TE in Dallas Goedert, it seems they may be interested, and Goedert wouldn’t mind the help at all. “You just don’t see that very often,” Goedert said. “I spent a lot of time with him. You know, it’s interesting. We’ll see what happens with him, but I hope the best for him.”
Philly would clearly be a sentimental choice for Zach Ertz to return to, but he may find more playing time and more value in one of those two other destinations. While both the Cowboys and Dolphins have potent offences and don’t “need” the addition of the future hall of Famer, both would benefit from his skillset down the stretch.
Since Dolphins HC Mike McDaniel has been at the helm Miami hasn’t been shy in adding big name players and Zach Ertz definitely fits that bill.
However, Eagles HC Nick Sirianni would probably love to add the veteran presence to help tip the Eagles over the edge in their quest for the Super Bowl they so narrowly missed out on last year.
