Rookie QB Will Levis showed why the Titans drafted him as he through 4 TD passes in his debut performance as the Titans beat the Falcons to keep their season alive.
Titans HC Mike Vrabel had insinuated earlier in the week that both Will Levis and Malik Willis would play. While that technically was true, it was Levis who will take all of the plaudits.
WILL LEVIS LOOKED GREAT
Completing 19/29 for 238 yards 4 touchdowns and no turnovers, Will Levis looked every bit the NFL starter. Last years rookie QB Malik Willis managed only 2 carries for 4 yards, with no passes attempted.
After the game Levis said, “I’ve been dreaming of this moment as a kid my entire life. Even to just touch the field in an NFL game, let alone get a win, is incredible.”
It seemed every narrative from this game was about QB’s, from Will Levis incredible debut, Malik Willis being cruelly booed by Titans fans, and Desmond Ridder getting benched after another horrendous performance. And of course the questions now about whether Tennessee moves on from veteran QB Ryan Tannehill at the trade deadline.
Falcons Head Coach Arthur Smith, a former Titans offensive coordinator, defended Ridder after the game saying he was checked for concussion, and although Ridder passed the tests, “We’re always going to be cautious, and I’ll be conservative.”
