Jaguars QB Trevor was held up on fourth and goal from the one, and the Titans stomped on Jacksonville’s hopes of winning the AFC South, and also eliminated their division rivals from the playoffs.
“They trust me with those things, and it didn’t work,” Lawrence said. “I’ve got to take accountability for that and, at the end of the day, that’s on me if I decide to do it and don’t get in. It’s one of those plays where, if you do it, you better score and I didn’t. It’s unfortunate.”
“Obviously, he had success in the past on it, just came up inches short,” Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson said. “But you can’t fault him for trying to make a play.”
Jaguars have no regrets
The Jaguars had looked great earlier in the season when they peaked at 8-3, only to lose 5 of their last 6 games amid multiple injuries for Lawrence.
For the Titans it was likely Mike Vrabel’s last game as head coach. But he was still batting for his defence. “Told them at halftime, ‘Guys, you’re the best red zone defense in the league, and we’re going to need a stop to win the game,’” Vrabel said. “And that’s what they did.”
