The Houston Texans beat the Cleveland Browns in impressive style 45-15 in the first game of super wildcard weekend.
Rookie QB CJ Stroud threw for 274-yards and 3 touchdowns as the Houston Texans pummelled the Browns all game and never looked like relinquishing home field advantage. Stroud became the youngest QB to win a playoff game.
Texans advance to divisional round
It’s been a fairytale season for the Texans and their rookie QB CJ Stroud, who is surely a lock for rookie of the year. Head coach DeMeco Ryans is also in his rookie year and has turned around what was looking like one of the leagues most dysfunctional franchises in a hurry.
“C.J. is the reason why we’re in this position,” Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans said. “He’s special, a special young man. Special player. Continues to shine no matter how big the moment is. Our whole team is leaning on him and he has the shoulders to carry that weight.”
As one fairytale continues another ends as Joe Flacco’s season came to a calamitous end.
“It’s definitely a shame the way it went down and hard to deal with at the moment,” Flacco said.
“We picked a bad day to have a bad day,” Browns head coach Kevin Stefanksi said. “That’s all of us. That’s players, coaches, offense, defense, special teams. Not good enough.”
