Texans new WR Diggs free after ’24

The Houston Texans have managed to ensure that new WR Stefon Diggs will be motivated for his time in Houston, wiping out the final three years of his deal and making him a free agent after the 2024 season.

It’s a cunning plan for the Texans who are looking to get better, but need to ensure a WR who hasn’t always been the greatest team player will give everything for the cause in 2024.

Texans getting a top talent

Texans head coach DeMeco Ryans had already spoken about what he looks for in WR, and when you look back it’s exactly what Diggs will give them.

“With the receiver position we’re looking for guys who are separators, who can separate, who can find a way to get open,” Ryans said. “If you have that one redeeming quality that you can separate, that’s what we’re looking for, especially that shows up on 3rd down. How do you win 3rd down? How do you stay on the field as an offense and continue to produce and move the ball down the field?

“It’s about 3rd down and being able to convert, and the way you convert is guys who are savvy enough to find a way to always get open.”

And with this new deal the Texans have the receiving talent they craved, and have kept him motivated. The more you watch what is going on in Houston, the more impressed you become.
