The Houston Texans have made a splash trade landing Bills Star WR Stefon Diggs for a 2025 second round pick.
It’s a major upgrade at the position for the Texans who already boast Nico Collins as one of the outstanding younger receivers in the NFL. Head Coach DeMeco Ryans had said at the owners meetings that he wanted to upgrade his offence.
“I want to upgrade our entire team and continue to get better, and I think that’s what you have to do each and every year,” Ryans said. “So every year we’ll be trying to upgrade, we’ll try to get better and try to find guys that help our team.”
Texans moving into top-end contender status
After making it to the last four in the AFC playoffs in 2023, the Texans have moved into genuine contender status with the addition of a big time player like Stefon Diggs. The big difference for Houston in 2024 will be the expectations that come with these kinds of moves.
While 2023 was a surprise and something no-one expected, the playoffs are now the minimum required of this talented young group of men. However, if QB CJ Stroud continues his developmental arc through his second year, this will be a very exciting team to watch.
Of course, the Texans do still need to make sure they can keep Diggs happy, something Buffalo has failed to do and the main reason they have jettisoned the WR.
