The Baltimore Ravens put down a marker on the pretenders to the AFC number one seed as they obliterated the Miami Dolphins 56-19.
It was billed as the greatest showdown, but was just proof that the Ravens are a legitimate Super Bowl contender and the Dolphins are pretenders to any crown. The Ravens have secured home field throughout the playoffs and will have week 19 off, and will likely rest most of their starters next week as well.
Ravens rack up 7 touchdowns
Lamar Jackson cemented his case for MVP as the Ravens destroyed any lingering hopes of the same award for Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa and WR Tyreek Hill. Jackson three for 321-yards and 5 touchdowns and added another 35-yards on the ground.
“He played a perfect football game in terms of the passing game,” Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said. “I don’t know if I’ve seen a more impressive performance in a game. I’m not sure I’ve seen a more impressive performance in a season to date. Obviously we have a lot more to do. We’ve got a lot of work to do in front of us, but this is a mature football team.”
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel came up with a typically inane response to his teams destruction. “There’s times like this one where I would like a time machine for sure,” he said.
Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa continues to struggle late in the season, as Miami looks to not repeat their collapse at the end of the 2022 season. “We’ll look at the film tomorrow, see what we can do better and move on to the Bills,” Tagovailoa said. “Everything is still in front of us for what we want to accomplish as a team.”
