The Rams clinched a playoff spot with a hard fought win over the Giants that nearly slipped away at the last second.
Giants kicker Mason Crosby missed a potential game-winning 54-yard field goal with 30 seconds left that would’ve handed the 5-11 Giants an improbable win. “I stopped looking when it turned left,” Crosby said.
“We are never going to take for granted being able to get wins,” Rams head coach Sean McVay said. “There were things that we did to try to not win this game today. But our guys found a way.
“Sometimes you need these types of games. It seemed we were a little off, but they kept staying together.”
Rams advance to playoffs after 3-6 start
It hadn’t looked like the likeliest outcome on the season for the Rams who started very slow and have grown into a very competitive team. This game, however, wasn’t one of their finest.
“We obviously didn’t play best on the offensive side of the ball, but our defense got some critical stops late in the game,” QB Matthew Stafford said. “Not the cleanest game, but we found a way to win. A win is a win. It was a crazy game. Felt like I was seeing it well, but obviously made two bad throws.”
