The Raiders announced Tuesday evening that they have sacked HC Josh McDaniels. Also sacked where GM Dave Ziegler and Offensive Coordinator Mike Lombardi.
It’s a complete cleaning of the decks for the Raiders whose offensive output this season has again being horrific. The team moved on from veteran quarterback Derek Carr at the end of last season, bringing in injury-prone veteran Jimmy Garropolo to lead the offence. However, things haven’t exactly improved this season.
RAIDERS BACK TO SQUARE ONE
Raiders owner Mark Davis announced the decision in a brief statement. “After much thought about what the Raiders need to move forward, I have decided to part ways with Josh and Dave. I want to thank them both for their hard work and wish them and their families nothing but the best.”
It marks the second time in McDaniels career that his forays into head coaching have lasted less than two seasons. He went 11-17 in Denver back in 2010 and 2011. His 9-16 record with the Raiders is one of the worst in team history.
Linebackers coach Antonio Pierce will be the interim head coach until the end of the season when Las Vegas will conduct a “detailed, extensive” search for their new head coach. Whoever the new coach is will be the third permanent head coach in the teams ill-fated four years in Las Vegas.
