In a typically New York Jets move they have activated Aaron Rodgers to the active roster and announced that he definitely will not play.
The Jets will carry FOUR quarterbacks on their roster for their week 16 game: Zach Wilson, Trevor Simian, Brett Rypien, and Aaron Rodgers. Despite being 5-9 the Jets clearly feel they don’t need to use roster spots only on players who may contribute.
When asked if Rodgers would play, HC Robert Saleh said, “No, no, no, he’s not”. Left unsaid was that Saleh is a coach who has no clue what he is doing on offence so he’s made a completely pointless decision that doesn’t help the Jets win at all.
“It’s all part of his rehab, and just having him out on the football field is a plus for everybody,” Saleh said. “It’s a plus for him. It’s a plus for his teammates. And so we’re going to keep him up for practice.” Apparently Rodgers rehab involves standing in shoulder pads for absolutely no purpose.
JETS CONTINUE TO SUCK
The move follows another pathetic offensive performance by the Jets that frankly showed exactly why Rodgers shouldn’t play as they couldn’t protect either QB that appeared in their 30-0 thrashing at the hands of the Dolphins.
Rodgers has always maintained he wouldn’t rush back if the team sucked. Which they do. And his position hasn’t changed. “There’s always a fear about re-rupture if you’re going too fast,” Rodgers said Tuesday. “But this allows me to — I’m not going to slow my rehab down. I’m going to keep attacking it every single day, but now, without a timetable to come back, obviously, we can be as smart as we need to be.”
