The NFL has announced that the salary cap is going up…by a lot.
The new cap figure of $255.4-million marks a rise of a staggering $30.6-million or 13.6%. With the new league year just around the corner this will come as good news to a number of teams who were previously looking at very bad cap situations.
Take for example the Miami Dolphins who were projected to be $55-million over the cap for 2024. While still having some moves to make, they are now only circa-$25-million over the game.

This historic raise in the salary cap leaves only seven teams currently over the cap, and leaves ten teams with over $50-million in cap space.
Those in the money, so to speak include the Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions, Indianapolis Colts, and Houston Texans. This seasons Super Bowl winners Kansas City and their head coach Andy Reid will be delighted as they now have $28.2-million in cap space, where previously they were $2-million over.
