NFL: 2020 Mock Draft: Volume Three (Draft Day)

11. New York Jets – CeeDee Lamb – WR – Oklahoma

Two possible options here for the Jets, o-line, and receiver. They addressed some positions on the line in free agency, whereas they didn’t give Sam Darnold any weapons. Robby Anderson ended up in Charlotte, signing with the Carolina Panthers and leaving the Jets a big hole at the receiver positiondd.

Not my favourite wideout, but he is favoured by many because of his run after catch ability, something Adam Gase loves in his receivers. If he is to keep his job that offense needs to be prodcuctive, something we didn’t see in Miami.

12. Las Vegas Raiders – Jerry Jeudy – WR – Alabama

Same pick as the past two mocks and the best receiver in this class imo, he’s a class above Lamb and Henry Ruggs because of his first three steps, they are to die for. Jeudy’s route running ability is unheard of, the best we’ve seen coming out of college in a good few years. Fresh off a move to Las Vegas the Raiders need weapons at receiver, the rest of their offense is very good.

Jeudy is without a doubt a top 10 player in this draft class, unfortunately for him, the group of wideouts is stronger than ever. That could result in teams waiting till Day 2 or 3 of the draft to grab their new starting receiver. The Antonio Brown situation really messed with their offensive play-calling and scheme last year, I’m intrigued to see what Gruden has up his sleeve with a new weapon to play with.

13. San Francisco 49ers (Colts) – Henry Ruggs III – WR – Alabama

Potential trade down target here for San Francisco, they need day 2 picks to build up to a roster to go on another championship run. I can’t see them passing on Henry Ruggs though, he’s built for Kyle Shannan’s play calling. He’s lightning quick.

The pure thought of him in this offense makes me excited for the season, when we eventually get underway. Ruggs is certainly a weapon, he’s one of the fastest receivers to come out of college in recent memory possessing game-changing speed, whilst also being an intelligent route runner.

14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Mekhi Becton – OT – Louisville

Becton takes a little bit of a tumble in the draft, but there’s no reason for that it’s just the way the night’s worked out. He is a raw prospect, but has monster-like athletic prowess and has the potential to be a quicker and better version of the Raiders tackle, Trent Brown. The man who has played the same position for the Patriots. Becton will be protecting Tampa’s new investment in Tom Brady.

Brown’s a top 5 tackle in the league, and Becton has a greater upside, he could be an all-pro talent. Speaking about upside, he’s got the biggest upside of all tackles in the class, the talent is there. For his size, Becton is surprisingly light and quick with his movement firing out of his stance very fast ready to protect his quarterback.

15. Denver Broncos – Javon Kinlaw – DT – South Carolina

Denver are going to go best player available in this draft, they are one top prospect away from a wildcard run, and Kinlaw is the best player left on my board. Building up a front seven that has already added Jurrell Casey in the offseason. A great addition for Vic Fangio’s Broncos.

Kinlaw certainly has the skill set to win at the next level, potentially at an all-pro level with his strong hands and quick get off. We all know that defense wins championships, and with Kinlaw joining Casey, Von Miller and Bradley Chubb, that’s a talented lineup on that side of the trench.

16. Arizona Cardinals (Falcons) – Tristan Wirfs – OT/G – Iowa

Arizona trades back and grabs the last of the premier offensive tackles to protect Kyler Murray. It doesn’t matter whether he plays at guard or tackle in the grand scheme of things, there’s a Lane Johnson type player ready to sure up their offensive line.

Wirfs has got incredibly quick feet and strength in the upper body to pick up blocks in the run game. He should be able to slot in right away. In my opinion, He’s got all-pro potential at guard.

17. Dallas Cowboys – Xavier McKinney – S – Alabama

Dallas needs to improve its secondary. It’s a given, and 100% the worst part of their roster. If CJ Henderson was on the board he might be the pick, to replace Byron Jones, but he’s not so McKinney makes his way to AT&T Stadium. Best safety in this class.

McKinney is always around the ball, from position to position covering a lot of ground. He’s a mix of Minkah Fitzpatrick and Tyrann Mathieu, McKinney and Minkah have almost identical measurables and can play across multiple positions in the secondary. As for comparisons to the honey badger, their big-play potential and ball skills are very similar

18. Jacksonville Jaguars (Dolphins) – Yetur Gross-Matos – EDGE – Penn State

Josh Allen needs a new partner, as Yannick Ngakoue is trying to force his way out of DUUVAL County. Gross-Matos is a great compliment to Allen’s speed as his length can help him shed blocks and get to the pocket, something required if Sacksonville is to be reborn.

It’s not as if he lacks speed either, he has enough speed to turn all six feet and five inches of his body around the corner. He’s not just a pass rusher, he’s an edge defender with great ability to stop the run. It was the main weakness in their defense a year ago, placing 28th, and now sans Calais Campbell, Gross-Matos makes sense.

19. Las Vegas Raiders (Bears) – Jaylon Johnson – CB – Utah

Johnson has Mike Mayock player written all over him. He’s one that his former NFL.com analyst partner, Daniel Jeremiah, can’t get enough of and I see why. Johnson’s a gritty corner who has the confidence and belief to challenge receivers on 50/50 balls.

My third corner behind Henderson and Okudah and one of the best outside cornerbacks in this class, due to what he does with the ball. He’s got the hands of a wideout, partnered with good vision and quick drive. Think Xavien Howard coming out of Baylor, a natural zone corner with tremendous ability in man.
