Seahawks stand-in QB Drew Lock threw a 29-yard TD to Rookie Jaxon Smith-Njigba with 28-seconds remaining to upset the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football.
The win keeps the Seahawks in the playoff hunt in the NFC at 7-7. Currently in a four way tie for the final two spots, the Seahawks finish the season with three very winnable games.
LOCK LEADS SEAHAWKS TO LATE SCORE
It’s not been an easy time in the NFL for Drew Lock. Originally drafted by the Broncos, he was included in the trade that sent Russell Wilson the other way, and then lost out in the QB competition last year to Geno Smith. But finally he got his moment in the spotlight.
“I think it was just the over-the-top of feeling of you don’t get very many moments, you don’t very many opportunities in this league,” Lock said. “And with every opportunity you get, you need to be as ready as you can be. Sure enough, they gave us one-on-one. It was kind of the perfect look.”
“It’s a memory you’re never going to lose. He’s going to hold on to this Monday night forever,” head coach Pete Carroll said. “He earned it, he deserved it. He played up to the great moments in the game and came through.”
