The Detroit Lions continued the NFL’s fee good story of the year with a 33-28 win in New Orleans.
The Lions racked up the points, scoring 30+ for the 6th time this season. It was a brilliantly balanced performance from the Lions offence with 205 yards passing to 142 rushing, and 2 touchdowns on the ground and in the air. Detroit is streaking away with the NFC North crown, and are firmly in the hunt for the NFC’s number 1 seed.
LIONS ROOKIE LAPORTA CONTINUES TO IMPRESS
Lions rookie TE Sam LaPorta had a breakout game amassing 9 catches, 140 yards and a touchdown on 9 targets. And there was plenty of praise for LaPorta’s performance. “I’m as comfortable with him as anyone I’ve ever played with,” Lions quarterback Jared Goff said. “For a rookie, it’s pretty tremendous. He’s such a reliable guy and a guy I count on in those crunch times. I know he’s a clutch player.”
The Saints lost starter Derek Carr with back, shoulder, and concussion injuries. “Any time you have a concussion, it’s concerning,” Saints head coach Dennis Allen said. Backup Jameis Winston didn’t impress in short relief.
