The Detroit Lions clinched their first NFC North title in 30 years with a 30-24 win over the Minnesota Vikings that threatened to slip away at the last.
With the Lions up by 6 late in the fourth quarter and the Vikings driving it all seemed like the Lions were going to blow it. By on 1st and 10 at the Detroit 30 with 58 seconds left, Branch stepped in front of a deep Nick Mullens pass and sealed the game, and a spot in history for this Lions squad.
LIONS ARE A LEGIT PLAYOFF THREAT
Lions head coach Dan Campbell had a plan to rebuild Detroit and he has implemented it step-by-step to get the Lions to a place many thought they’d never see again. “I’m proud of all the Lions fans out there who’ve been dying for this for years,” Campbell said. “That was for you.”
Meanwhile the Vikings are seeing their playoff hopes go up in flames after back to back close losses. “Proud of our guys for the way they battled,” Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said. “Got to tip your hat to Dan and his group over there.” It’s been a rough season in Minnesota who will need to solve their QB issues ahead of the 2024 season.
