Former 20th pick Kadarius Toney is on his way out of New York after less than two years as a Giant, with the Kansas City Chiefs sending a compensatory third-round pick and a sixth-round pick.
Things didn’t go as expected for the much-hyped Gator with Toney only producing 41 catches for 420 yards and no scores in his brief tenure with the G-men.
KADARIUS TONEY JOINS POTENT OFFENCE
Some, probably including Toney, would argue he hasn’t had the best support from the QB position, with Daniel Jones being, well, Daniel Jones. However, new Head Coach Brian Daboll has got more out of Jones this season and is still happy to cut bait with the Giants 2021 first-rounder.
Toney will go from “offensive guru” Daboll’s new regime in New York, to Andy Reid’s well established offense in Kansas City and a much higher echelon QB in Patrick Mahomes.
Safe to say if there was anything to the Kadarius Toney hype in college you can expect Mahomes and Reid to be able to bring it out of him for the Chiefs.
Don’t be too surprised if Toney does show brilliance with the Chiefs. In 2021 PFF graded him as the 6th best rookie receiver with a 74.4 rating. A rating that also saw him rank as the 40th wide receiver overall. You can only expect things to improve with Patrick Mahomes throwing him the rock.
