The New York Jets are continuing their theme of being all in for the 2024 season acquiring one of the NFL’s most prolific edge rushers Haason Reddick from the Philadelphia Eagles.
Reddick, one of only two players to have recorded at least 10 sacks in each of the last four seasons, comes with a $14.25-million salary for the 2024 season. The Jets would likely expect to extend him to keep in the organisation longer than just the season.
Jets need to win this season
As much as Jets head coach Robert Saleh has tried to play down the pressure he is under in 2024, this moves shows just how desperate the need is in New York. The loss of Bryce Huff in free agency left a hole in the roster that has now been filled.
Reddick will now play for his fourth team in his eight year in the league since being drafted by the Arizona Cardinals with the 13th overall pick. It took the Cardinals until year 4 to realise they had an elite level pass rusher in Reddick. In the four years since, Reddick has amassed 50.5 sacks, fourth best in the NFL over that period.
