Giants ink Kenny Golladay to $72m 4-year deal

The number one receiver to hit the free agency market in 2021 is coming to New York after Kenny Golladay signed a 4-year deal to play for Big Blue.

With back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in Detroit before an injury shortened 2020 campaign, Golladay’s stats are amazingly similar to Calvin Johnson through the first four years of his career. A contested catch expert, Golladay registered a career high 76.9% catch rate on contested balls in 2020.

KENNY GOLLADAY CHANGES THE GIANTS OFFENSE FROM DAY ONE

With a staggering 62.5% of his targets coming 10+ yards down the field in 2020, and 65.5% in 2019, Kenny Golladay will be the Giants first genuine vertical threat since OBJ that will scare defences. That alone will help what has become a very anaemic Giants offense in recent times.

By stretching the field, and making the defense respect the deep ball, Kenny Golladay changes the field for everyone from Saquon Barkley to Evan Engram, opening up the short and intermediate areas that little bit more.

Given the numbers Kenny Golladay has put up on a serially unsuccessful team like the Lions, NY Giants fans should be excited to see what he can do on the big stage. The contract makes him the 6th highest paid WR, on exactly the same average per year as OBJ (per spotrac).
