The Indianapolis Colts lost 29-10 to the Atlanta Falcons and their QB flip-floppery to leave both teams playoff hopes balancing on a knife edge Sunday.
With Taylor Heinicke back at QB the Falcons looked more like the playoff team they were a few weeks ago. They still hold some playoff aspirations but will need some help to make it in after losing 5 of their last 8 games. “Obviously, the story of the season so far has been, you know, turnovers and self-inflicted wounds and that was kind of our message this week was not beat ourselves,” Heinicke said. “Let’s make them go beat us. I thought we played a really clean game.”
FALCONS LOOK TO TAKE IT ALL THE WAY
“He kept the offense in rhythm,” Falcons head coach Arthur Smith said of Heinicke. “We wanted to be aggressive and he certainly executed the plan.” Smith has been changing QB’s more than any sane person would for a team that was in a playoff run and there’s no telling who will be the QB come the end of the next game.
For his part Taylor Heinicke didn’t everything that was asked off him and stayed turnover free while passing for 229 yards and a touchdown. The offence has gained more yards with Heinicke at QB, but until this game it hadn’t been converted into points. If he can keep up this level of play he definitely has a shot at being next years starter.
