Eagles secure Vic Fangio for 2024 DC role

The Philadelphia Eagles have secured their first choice for their open defensive coordinator in legendary Vic Fangio.

“Vic’s reputation obviously speaks for itself,” Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said. “He’s a brilliant defensive mind who has coached at a very high level in this league for many years. In my time spent with Vic, I’ve seen firsthand what makes him such a great coach — tremendous knowledge of the game, passion, and work ethic. I’m excited for our coaches and players to be able to learn from him and see it for themselves.”

Eagles need a great 2024

Fangio spent the 2023 season as the Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator which didn’t always go exactly as planned. Miami got off to a slow start on the defensive side of the ball, but as the offense sputtered late in the season the defense often held them in games.

Sirianni needs Fangio to hit the ground running after the Eagles epic collapse from 10-1 to 11-7 almost cost him his job. Getting bounced by the Bucs in the first round of the playoffs was the ultimate kick in the teeth for a team that seemed almost a lock for the Super Bowl two months before.
