One Takeaway: Three Vikings are drafted in Dynasty!

Dynasty changes things
Dalvin Cook(pick 2.01), Adam Thielen(pick 2.12), and Stefon Diggs(pick 3.04) all find themselves picked before the end of round three.

I figured that Dalvin Cook would be drafted early in the second round, which did happen. But, one thing I wasn’t expecting is that both of the Vikings receivers would be drafted in these two rounds. Especially Stefon Diggs, who failed to top 850 receiving yards last year. You can’t necessarily count on his touchdown number(8) from last year to be similar this season. Since in 2016, Diggs only recorded three touchdown catches.

One Surprise: Jerick McKinnon is the sixteenth pick overall!

Jerick McKinnon gets picked right after Melvin Gordon III, which is a surprise to everyone!

I am not gonna hate on this pick! I love Jerick McKinnon! Sure the pick was unexpected and McKinnon could have fell later in the draft, but this guy in my league wanted McKinnon and did what he needed to do to get him! This offseason, he was signed to a four year deal worth more than 8 million per year. This is a ton of money for a running back. Obviously with Breida being the back-up option, the 49ers have made it clear that McKinnon is gonna be a “do everything” type of back in their offense. He is one of the greatest pass catching backs in the NFL and should be a solid option in the passing game for the 49ers. For half PPR, a pass catching back still means a lot. Not as much as in full PPR, but still a lot. His carries will be there too as Matt Breida isn’t gonna steal too many touches like Latavius Murray did to McKinnon in Minnesota last season. His yards per carry average is still gonna need some work, but he has the potential to be worth this pick eventually. Plus, he still is only 26.

One Reach: Aaron Rodgers get picked in with the first pick of the third round!

Aaron Rodgers should have picked later and isn’t going to be playing in the NFL for ten more years like some other quarterbacks.

Aaron Rodgers is 34 years old! That is right older than Matt Ryan, who is 33 years old. If you think Aaron Rodgers is gonna be playing ten more years, you are fooling yourself. If I were to pick the first quarterback here, I would pick a young, talented quarterback who could lead my team for 10–15 years. This could be Russell Wilson, Deshaun Watson, or Carson Wentz! But, not someone who struggles with injuries and is aging. I agree when Rodgers is out there he is the best quarterback in fantasy, but is he going to always be out there. Can he stay away from injuries? How much does he have left? You can’t be asking these questions if you are going to go out of your way and pass on guys like Devonta Freeman and A.J. Green to go after the quarterback position.

One Steal:Allen Robinson falls outside of the top thirty picks

Allen Robinson is going to be one of the focal points of Matt Nagy’s offense in Chicago.

Allen Robinson may not be as proven as some of the other players, but he is going to have the opportunity to become as proven in Chicago. He is going from Jacksonville with Blake Bortles and an ugly offense to work with to a newly revamped Bears offense as the number one target there for second year quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. The fact that got passed on over Amari Cooper and Stefon Diggs was a mistake potentially. He has the talent and the potential to be a number one receiver in Fantasy Football!

The Winner From These Two Rounds: Getting Leonard Fournette, Joe Mixon, Doug Baldwin, and Juju Smith Schuster!

Second year man Juju Smith-Schuster is a solid addition to this owner’s squad!

This person capitalized on their picks selected two top running backs and managed to pick two incredible receivers worth their value in the end of the third round. The picks produced a great group of guys to build their team around. Plus, three of the four players are all heading into their second year. So, this team will be able to have a group of players they can count on for years to come!
