After returning, albeit briefly in week 7, Deshaun Watson is out of the Browns week 8 game against the Seahawks.
Watson completed only 1 of 5 passes with an interception in week 7 against the Colts, before being taken to the medical tent to undergo concussion tests. Despite passing those tests, Watson never returned to the field.
DESHAUN WATSON STILL SUFFERING FROM ROTATOR CUFF INJURY
However, after much speculation, Browns HC Kevin Stefanski has said Deshaun Watson did not return to the game because of the shoulder injury that had seen him miss the previous two games. Stefanski said Watson didn’t re-injure the shoulder but was suffering from some residual swelling.
Stefanski added, “I feel like this is the best decision for this week. He’s trying like crazy. This is not for lack of effort. He’s making every effort he can to be out there. But with the hit he took, with the swelling, it makes the most sense to focus on rehab this week and then he’ll be out there as soon as he’s ready.”
“This is our quarterback, it’s a shoulder injury, so you’re taking in information every single day,” Stefanski said. “We’ll continue to just make the smart decisions for our football team, for him.”
Having previously believed Deshaun Watson was ready for week 7 it does make you wonder how much longer he could miss as the Browns continue to push for a post season berth. PJ Walker will be the starter while Watson rehabs.
