Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson is out for the remainder of the 2023 season with a fracture to his throwing shoulder.
Making the announcement Watson said, “It’s very tough. Hurt about it.” So far Deshaun Watson has played only 12 games as a Brown, earning $96-million. He has 3-years and $168-million remaining on his contract fully guaranteed. Watson will have surgery to prepare the fracture in the coming days.

“I’m still in disbelief. I’m still trying to process all the information,” Deshaun Watson said. “I felt like we were turning a corner to really make a run and still believe we still will with the guys in this locker room. I just wanted to physically be a part of it. … It’s tough to try to wrap everything around my head right now.”
“The whole second half was painful to throw a football,” Watson said. “I was just pushing through whatever I was feeling. I’m gonna make sure I keep my head above water and make sure I stay in touch with all the guys and support them as much as I possibly can.”
Cleveland Browns GM Andrew Berry said, “We are very disappointed and devastated for Deshaun, especially given all that he has battled and gone through medically this season.We feel good about Deshaun and his recovery. We see how talented he is. We love that he’s able to play smart. He’s physically tough. He’s mentally tough. We’re excited to get him back.”
PJ Walker is expected to be the Browns QB during Watsons absence.
