The Indianapolis Colts GM Chris Ballard has categorically stated WR1 Michael Pittman will be a Colt next season.
Speaking at the NFL Combine, when asked if Pittman would be back Ballard said, “Yes. We’ve had talks with Pittman’s agent, who is really good. We’ll work hard to get a deal done.”
Ballard did also say the Colts had the franchise tag available if they needed to go down that route to keep Pittman.
Colts owner on the mend
Ballard also talked about the situation with owner Jim Irsay who has been hospitalised after falling ill at his home, “He is progressing well. We are talking,” Ballard said of Irsay.
“Shane Steichen and I have talked to him multiple times and we keep him abreast of anything. Look, at the end of the day, we’re not going to do anything without his approval, so we still keep him in the loop. I mean, you know him. He wants to know. He loves his team. He’s making his way and he’s doing well. It’s getting better.”
So all in all things are looking ok for the Colts who narrowly missed out on a playoff berth under backup QB Gardner Minshew.
