Chiefs cut MVS save $12-million on cap

The Kansas City Chiefs have cut wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling saving $12-million against they salary cap.

MVS caught eight passes for 116 yards in the AFC Championship game in 2022 as the Chiefs beat the Cincinnati Bengals but has found impressive performances harder and harder to come by.

Chiefs receiver rumour ripe for another makeover

It seems every season now the Chiefs head coach Andy Reid is happy to revolve around different wide receivers as their key weapon is still QB Patrick Mahomes. Despite having a league high 34 drops Mahomes produced his third Super Bowl win.

MVS never really became a consistent threat in Kansas and saw his targets drop from 87 in 2022 to just 52 in 2023. His 443 receiving yards were the second lowest in his six years in the league, while his 2 touchdowns were the joint lowest.

His case for remaining on the roster was severely weakened by the arrival and impressive rookie season of Rashee Rice. Rice finished with 1,200 yards, 8 touchdowns, and 105 catches to lead all the Kansas City Receivers not name Travis Kelce.
