The Los Angeles Chargers downed the New England Patriots 6-0 in the NFL’s least watchable game for a long time.
The Chargers scored all six of the games points on field goals in the second quarter on drives of 27 yards, and 7 yards. The longest drive of the game was 54-yards by the Patriots on their second drive. It was a brutal watch with very little to even register it as a regular season game.
The Chargers managed only 29 yards on 24 carries, and both teams only managed 13 first downs a piece on 11 drives.
CHARGERS ARE A SHADOW OF THEIR 22 TEAM
“There weren’t going to be any style points today. I wasn’t expecting it to be a high-scoring affair,” Chargers head coach Brandon Staley said. “Sometimes the games are a track meet, 41-38. Sometimes, hey, it was a game like today, 6-0. You have to do what it takes to win.”
Bailey Zappe started at QB for the Patriots who have suffered major issues with incumbent Mac Jones all season. But Zappe could generate very little in the way of offence, and it remains to be seen if New England revert to Jones for next week.
The Chargers had high hopes coming in to the season but the whole of 2023 has been a struggle. This ‘win’ snapped a three-game losing skid but that was pretty much the only positive to take from this game.
