The Los Angeles Chargers selected Georgia WR Ladd McConkey with the 34th overall pick in the NFL Draft.
The Chargers, who have lost Keenan Allen and Mike Williams this offseason desperately need to add some talent to their receiver room, and McConkey adds that x-factor. McConkey had 1,692 yards in his college career and 14 touchdowns, while adding 6.6 yards of YAC per reception.

PFF had this to say about the receiver prior to the draft, “McConkey won’t be an “X” jump-ball receiver, but it’s still hard to imagine him failing in the NFL. His game is reminiscent of Eddie Royal’s. He has devastating quickness and provides a spark in the return game. He is also a strong blocker for a player of his size.”
Head coach Jim Harbaugh was thrilled they managed to pick McConkey, “He can be an outside recevier, he can be a slot receiver, love the speed, 4.38, but he plays to it, he plays 4.38 […] Once he’s got the ball in his hands, me and Joe were talking about it, he’s very Brock Bowers-like, the way he gets yards after the catch.”
