Chargers build with dynamic power at #5

The Chargers have drafted exactly the kind of mauler and finisher new head coach Jim Harbaugh loves by selecting Notre Dame LT Joe Alt as the fifth overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft.

Alt, at 6’8″ and 322 pounds is a big powerful tackle that is likely to bookend the Chargers offensive line with Rashawn Slater for many years to come.

Chargers give Harbaugh a foundational piece

PFF had this to say about Joe Alt, “The NFL draft is all about finding players with size, speed and strength who have the IQ to use those traits. That’s Joe Alt, and that should spell a top-10 selection as a future long-term tackle.”

Coach Harbaugh is known for his bruising, rush-first attack, so adding Alt at 5 seems like a no-brainer.
