The Tampa Bay Bucs have resigned QB Baker Mayfield to a three-year $100-million contract.
At the combine head coach Todd Bowles had spoken of the importance of keeping Mayfield in Tampa Bay. “It’s an extremely high priority, obviously,” Bowles said “We love Baker. Baker had a heck of a year.”
“He fit right in with us all the way around. The chemistry was outstanding with him and all the receivers and the offense as a whole, so we hope to build on that. I understand the business side of it. Like I said, we like Bake and we hope things get worked out.”
Bucs helped Mayfield resurrect his career
Mayfield agent took to ESPN to declare how happy they were with the deal. “I’m very happy for Baker. He’s been through so much in the last couple of years,” Mayfield’s agent Tom Mills said to ESPN. “On Dec. 5, 2022, he was waived by the Panthers. … He never complained and always believed in himself.”
The fact Mayfield has signed on for $33-million per year says a lot for how happy the QB is in Tampa. During the 2023 season he said they were the first team who just wanted him to be Baker and not tone himself, or his playing style down.
And now the Bucs and Mayfield get to do it all again.
