Browns rework injured RB Chubb for ’24

The Cleveland Browns have reworked the final year of RB Nick Chubbs contract saving the team $9.6-million for 2024.

Chubb was injured in week 2 of the 2023 season in one of the more sickening injuries we have seen in recent seasons. If Chubb reaches the same level of performance as prior to the injury he can make $12.2-million in performance bonuses.

Browns save money and keep stud

The Browns have been smart keeping Chubb in the building, but also hedging their bets by protecting the cap situation. Chubb has come back from a devastating knee injury before in his career, but at 28 it will be harder.

Chub had his first surgery for this injury back in September to repair the medial capsule, meniscus, and MCL, and underwent further surgery in November to repair his ACL.

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski had spoken of Chubb’s recovery at the owners meeting, “I’m excited for Nick,” Stefanski said. “He’s doing a great job with his rehab, as everybody can imagine. We’ll just make sure that we continue to make decisions based on him and the medical staff. But excited about Nick.”
