Baker Mayfield is a very happy boy today as the Cleveland Browns picked up his fifth year option guaranteeing him $18.858-million in 2021. It was a widely anticipated move but by completing the move before the draft the Browns can now focus their attention 100% on the NFL Draft that starts on Thursday in Cleveland.
Mayfield had his first 4,000-yard season in 2020 while setting career highs in yards, attempts, completions, touchdowns, and a career-low 9 interceptions.
BAKER MAYFIELD SHOWED REAL GROWTH IN 2020
With much pressure on him coming in to 2020 and he started the season a little shakily throwing 10 touchdowns and 6 interceptions through week 6. However, he turned the corner in week 7 at the Bengals throwing for 5 touchdowns and one interception. He would go on to throw just one more pick in the regular season.
Baker Mayfield would go on to lead the Browns to their first playoff win since 1994 in a thriller in Pittsburgh. The season would end one week later in Kansas City, but not before the Browns gave the Chiefs a run for their money.
