The Broncos are delighted. The dust has barely settled on the NFL Draft but Denver have firmly fixed the narrative of their QB position.
While the treatment of former QB Russell Wilson will likely leave a bad taste for many it’s hard to argue that Denver haven’t got what they wanted from the situation. Head Coach Sean Payton finally has HIS guy, and now there’s no holding them back. “That challenge is exciting,” Payton said.
“When you watch him, it’s pretty calming,” Payton said. “He’s very efficient. You see a ton of NFL throws in their offense. He’s making the throws we’re going to ask him to make.”
Broncos have their QB of the future
Bo Nix is definitely excited to work with the Broncos and his Super Bowl winning head coach. “They came out to Eugene; they had some Zooms and all that stuff. To be honest with you, you never know until you get the phone call and you hear your name called on TV. I just can’t say how excited I am to be a part of this organization,” Nix said.
“No. 1, we can’t take as many sacks,” Payton said. “If you looked at any of the data relative to what it does for your drives, I think that was a big thing that hurt us a year ago. Sack reduction sometimes is the ability to process and deliver.”
“That’s oftentimes hard for us to measure, but he’s someone who can multitask. Alex was like, ‘He was in the offensive line room, handling protections, talking about what we’re going to do with these looks, where we’re going to go within the framework of a pass.’”
The Broncos struggled throughout 2023, giving up 70-points to the Dolphins in week 3, and failing to miss the playoffs.
