The Denver Broncos own for the sixth time in seven games to haul themselves back into playoff contention with a convincing 24-7 win over division rivals Los Angeles.
The Broncos snapped an 11-game road losing streak against AFC West opponents, and put together one of their best defensive performances of the season. “We did a good job harassing the quarterback, both of them. It was one of our better team wins this season,” Denver head coach Sean Payton said.
Chargers QB Justin Herbert left the game with a concussion. “I can’t remember whether it got hit on a helmet or whether it hit on someone’s shoulder pads. I just remember coming up and it wasn’t feeling right,” said Herbert
BRONCOS IN PLAYOFF HUNT
QB Russell Wilson was looking forward to the Broncos playoff chances and clearly understood the potential importance of this win. “We’re in a horse race. We’re three quarters the way through and we have to finish last quarter strong,” Wilson said.
It’s a near miracle the Broncos are even in the playoff discussion after conceding 151-points in their first three games, including an NFL-record 70 points versus the Dolphins in week 3. The Broncos were 1-5 after 6 games.
