The Bills took down the Chiefs 20-17 to keep their playoff hopes alive, but the game ended in contentious circumstances.
With 1:12 left the Chiefs thought they had scored to take the lead only for the officials to call the play back on an offensive offside call. It’s a call that has been much more prevalent this season, despite what the Chiefs seem to think.
“I’ve played seven years in the National Football League and never had offensive offside called,” Mahomes said. “You want until a minute left to make a call like that?”
“It’s a bit embarrassing for the National Football League for that to take place,” Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said.
BILLS FIGHTING FOR PLAYOFF LIFE

“As the play unfolded,” Bills head coach Sean McDermott said, “Kelce got wide open. The play after he caught the ball, I’ve never seen a play like that in the NFL. But I saw the referees signaling that direction. I didn’t know if it was a pick or what. It turned out to be offside.”
Kadarius Toney was clearly offside and it was a careless way to throw away a desperately needed win for the slumping Chiefs. Kansas City have now lost 4 of their last 6 games and are all but out of the race for the number 1 seed. At 7-6 the Bills still have a shot at the AFC East crown, but they will need a lot of help.
