Jake Browning continues to win as the Bengals kept alive their playoff hopes with a stunning fourth quarter comeback against the Minnesota Vikings.
It was Browning’s fourth start of the year as he spells injured starter Joe Burrow, and marked his third win, and arguably his most dramatic. How dramatic was it? “I feel like I need a beer,” said Browning after the game.
It was also sweet revenge for Browning who was cut from the Vikings practice squad back in 2021. “I think right after we made the field goal and won the game, I screamed at camera and said, ‘They never should have cut me,’” Browning said.
BENGALS BROWNING COMES GOOD LATE
The Bengals struggled mightily against the Vikings defence for the first three quarters but then something clicked for Browning and the offense, scoring touchdowns on three successive possessions to tie the game with just 39 seconds remaining.
Browning hit Higgins for the first and third of those touchdowns neatly sandwiching a 1-yard run by Joe Mixon.
“Jake’s just so steady, you know?” Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said. “He really is. He doesn’t get rattled by a negative play. He doesn’t overreact to it.”
