The Bengals continued re-tooling their offence, adding former Dolphins and Patriots TE Mike Gesicki.
Gesicki represents a major threat in the passing game and give Joe Burrow another high-end weapon to help spread around the workload and stress defences in another way.
Bengals going back to basics
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor has clearly decided to go back to the recipe that worked so well in 2021 and add dynamism and a more genuine receiving threat from at the tight end position.
On their run to the Super Bowl in the 2021 season, Cincinnati leaned heavily on the TE position with CJ Uzomah snagging 6 scores. Uzomah departed after the season, and the position has never been quite the same, with Hayden Hurst in 2022 and Drew Sample in 2023 combining for just 5 scores.
Gesicki will once again add that dynamic threat. Despite playing with Mac Jones in 2023 he still managed 2 touchdowns on only 29 catches. For his career Gesicki has three seasons with 5+ touchdowns giving him a total of 21 scores and 2,875 receiving yards in his six years in the league.
