The Chicago Bears produced one of their most consistent, if unspectacular performances, to beat the Arizona Cardinals 27-16 and move to 6-9 on the season.
Bears QB Justin Fields threw for one score and ran for another as the Bears once again built an early lead, and this time didn’t throw it away. “It’s just about being resilient,” Bears head coach Matt Eberflus said. “It was attention to detail on some things that we need to do better. You have to do that in the fourth quarter. You have to bring it to the guys’ attention and the coaches’ attention, and we’ve got to just keep doing a better job.”
BEARS HOLD ON THIS TIME
Chicago had already blown three double-digit leads on the season and things got a little nervy with the game back to one score at 24-16 after the Bears had lead 21-0. But there was to be no heartbreak this week for the home team.
Once again it wasn’t a great numbers game for Fields, completing 15/27 for 170 yards 1 touchdown and 1 interception. He did, however, add 97 yards rushing and a score on 9 carries.
“I’m cool with whatever as long as we win the game,” Fields said. “If I have 100 passing yards and zero touchdowns and we get the win, I’m cool with that. I know people love stats and say ‘he only throws blah, blah, blah.’ I don’t care, we won the game. As long as we win, I’m not really a numbers guy. All I know is one win up in the win column today and that’s all I care about.”
