The Chicago Bears continued what has been a good second half of the season with a comfortable 37-17 win over playoffs chasing Atlanta on the penultimate weekend of the season.
QB Justin Fields threw for 268-yards and a touchdown, added another with his legs and didn’t throw any interceptions in one of his most complete games as a Bear. Chicago will decide this offseason whether to continue with Fields or switch to a rookie QB, most likely USC’s Caleb Williams.
“I will definitely remember this game for the rest of my life — just the atmosphere the fans, the chants, the snow,” said Fields. “I don’t like snow as a quarterback but looking back on it it was great. But yeah, the spirit of the fans, the game, playing the hometown team, the hometown team where I’m from, beating them, so it was good.”
Bears win for fourth time in five games
The Bears notched back-to-back wins for only the second time this season, and got their fourth win in five, having only won three of their first eleven games.
It’s not just Fields who is potentially playing for his future in Chicago. Head coach Matt Eberflus has been coming under intense scrutiny of late as well. “I know it’s a couple wins and all that, but I’m just saying that just to get that vibe in there of, ‘Hey, we can do this,’ that was certainly exciting for the players in there,” Eberflus said.
The Bears will close out their 2023 campaign with a game against arch-rivals the Green Bay Packers.
