The Chicago Bears continued to retool their offence with the addition of Washington Huskies WR Rome Odunze with the 9th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
At 6’3″ and 215 pounds Odunze is a big target who amassed 3,271 yards on 214 catches of college ball, scoring 24 touchdowns including 13 in 2023.
Bears are stacked on offence
PFF said this of the WR prior to the draft, “In an offense filled with future NFL players at the skill positions, Odunze was the best of the bunch. If he weren’t in a class with Marvin Harrison Jr. and Malik Nabers, we would be talking about him as an easy WR1 and a player worthy of a top-10 pick, although the latter is still true for 2024.”
After struggling through not supporting Justin Fields, the Bears seem to have learned a valuable lesson. “We understand where we are and where we came from, and I’ll just go back to one day at a time,” GM Ryan Poles said. “Now it’s about putting the football team together and the guys coming together, and the guys coming together in terms of their relationships and learning the scheme and let’s get to work.”
Chicago has added the best QB in the draft, and paired him with one of the top 2 or 3 receivers. No one can argue management aren’t giving new QB Caleb Williams the best chance to succeed. The 2024 season could be a very exciting one for Bears fans.
