MLS: FC Dallas v New England Revolution preview

The next matchup we have for you is New England Revolution’s visit to Texas to take on FC Dallas. This isn’t a fixture we see a whole lot of in MLS with the sides coming from opposite conferences so it’s going to be interesting to see how it pans out.

Last season was another bleak one for the Revs – New England finished eighth in the Eastern conference without posing much of a threat to the play off positions. Meanwhile, FC Dallas had quite a decent season as they finished fourth in the Western conference. However, they didn’t last very long in the play-offs as they fell at the first hurdle at the hands of Portland Timbers.

As I mentioned earlier, this isn’t a too regular matchup in MLS what with the sides being in the opposite conferences to one another. They did play each other last season in New England – the game saw Dallas come away 1-0 victors. In total, the two teams have clashed 23 times over the years, with the Revs picking up 11 wins, Dallas 10 wins and just two draws.

New England have had a busy preseason

New England have been very active in pre-season. They’ve played a mighty nine games since January 31st – all of which have been friendlies. They only managed to pick up three wins in that period, but one of them was an impressive victory against Dynamo Kiev. On the other hand, Dallas have had just four games to prepare for the new season. They lost to San Antonio before picking up three consecutive 2-1 wins against Seattle Sounders, Real Salt Lake and New York Red Bulls.

There isn’t much in the way of team news for this one apart from the fact that both teams are fit, healthy and raring to go.

Prediction: I’m going to back a relatively comfortable Dallas win here I think. I’m going to say 3-1 to the home side.
