Steelers snare cheap QB Wilson for 24

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed veteran free agent QB Russell Wilson to a 1-year deal at the veteran minimum of just $1.21-million.

Steelers upgrade at QB

QB was arguably the Steelers biggest needed upgrade and Wilson definitely is an upgrade over the Pickett, Trubisky, Rudolph combo that was rolled out in 2023. Head coach Mike Tomlin has clearly looked to address that issue quickly in free agency.

Pittsburgh had been linked with another free agent in Kirk Cousins, but Wilson represents a much cheaper option and arguably a more proven track record of winning.

Wilson was in the top-5 in the league last year for TD:Int ratio, throwing 26 scores and only 8 interceptions, while also posting 3,571 yards. Wilson was benched towards the end of last season as the Broncos looked to reduce the amount of guaranteed money the QB would be owed.
