Jets dumping massive flop 2nd-pick Wilson

The New York Jets have given Zach Wilson permission to seek a trade, in the same week that rumours about the Rams potentially looking at the former second-overall pick.

Jet’s owner Woody Johnson had already basically said the Jets were done with Wilson when he said, “We need a backup quarterback. We didn’t have one last year.”

Jets GM confirms Wilson is done at combine

Jets GM Joe Douglas has further fuelled that talk as it’s clear that they will be moving on and getting a more reliable backup option behind Aaron Rodgers.

We’re still really early in the offseason, especially when it comes to the veteran backup landscape and market,” he said. “We’ve had good meetings and good evaluations with the guys that are available, and I think we’re ready to take the next step and see where the market is exactly with these backup quarterbacks.”

So who could the Jets be looking at? Ryan Tannehill is a name that seems to be popping up if they look for a veteran to hold the fort, if Rodgers were to go down again.
