Colts want a 1st for explosive Jonathan Taylor

The Indianapolis Colts and Jonathan Taylor finally agree on something and one of the longest running saga of the off-season may be nearing its conclusion.

Taylor has been seeking a move away from Indianapolis as the Colts go through a rebuild and they failed to offer him a contract extension. After the 2021 season, Taylor was seen as one of the premier backs in the NFL and a player the Colts could build a franchise around whilst propping up any old guy at QB.

However, after an injury plagued 2022, the Colts were not too keen on extending Taylor and changed tack at QB drafting rookie phenom Anthony Richardson in the first round of the NFL Draft.

THINGS TOOK AN UGLY TURN FOR THE COLTS AND TAYLOR

It was only back in July when things took an ugly turn with the Colts claiming Taylor was injured, and Taylor taking to twitter to explain that he as absolutely 100% not injured.

New HC Shane Steichen seemed accepting that Taylor wouldn’t be with the team long term when he sparked the injury controversy saying “He’s just dealing with something right now, and I’m going to refrain from getting into that,. Right now he’s on this football team, and when the medical staff clears him, he’ll play”.

Any time a HC says “Right now he’s on our team” you can start to get suspicious about how long a player will be around.

It seems like the Colts are looking for a first round pick, or that value in multiple picks, for the former all-star. Taylor has 3,841 yards and 33 touchdowns rushing in his three year career although is much less of a threat as a receiving back. Taylor is sure to see some interest on the trade market with the Miami Dolphins hotly tipped to make a run at him.

The Dolphins have set themselves up over the last few years as a team in win-now mode who are happy to give away their first round pick. Taylors power running style would be the perfect compliment to the Dolphins offense built around speedy on the outside.
