NFL 2020 Draft: Ruggs disappointed with 40-yard dash

Alabama wide receiver Henry Ruggs III was ‘disappointed’ with his 40-yard dash time, despite the fact he was the fastest man at the combine.

At the scouting combine in Indianapolis back in February, Ruggs registered a time of 4.27 seconds in the 40-yard dash, making him the fastest runner of the week.

This week, when speaking to SiriusXM NFL Radio, Ruggs said he was actually a little disappointed with his run.

“I actually was a little disappointed,” Ruggs said. “Just a lot of technical things I did during the run … But I’m still glad to be known as one of the fastest ever.”

Ruggs addressed what he felt he could have done better.

“After the re-start, I was thinking a lot and didn’t really come out of my start like I wanted to, didn’t really come out fluid, and didn’t really push on my first two steps,” Ruggs said.

“Then, running with my hands closed kind of tensed me up so I couldn’t really open up like I wanted to.”

The ‘Bama star is classified as one of the top three receiving talents in the upcoming draft.

When the draft rolls around, it looks likely he will be off the board in the first 15 picks.

New York Jets at 11, Las Vegas Raiders at 12, San Francisco 49ers at 13 and Denver Broncos at 15 are all receiver needy.

Along with fellow Alabama star Jerry Jeudy and Oklahoma’s CeeDee Lamb, Ruggs has been touted to become a star in the NFL.

In his mock draft last week, my colleague Sam Moores had Ruggs going to Denver at 15. As a Broncos fan myself, I certainly wouldn’t be adverse to that.
