Super Bowl 55 odds: Kansas City Chiefs open as early favourites

The NFL’s 100th season is done and dusted and football fans will have to wait a painful seven months before the next season gets underway.

But bookmakers wasted no time compiling the latest odds for who will take home the Lombardi Trophy next year in Super Bowl 55.

After their stunning victory over the San Francisco 49ers, the Kansas City Chiefs have opened as early favourites to repeat their success next season.

They are closely followed by the Baltimore Ravens and the 49ers while the uncertainty over Tom Brady’s future has, for once, pushed the New England Patriots down in the pecking order for Super Bowl 55.

If Brady leaves the place he’s called home for two decades, could Belichick still put together a strong enough team to challenge for the Lombardi trophy next season?

Several franchises who failed to make the playoffs this year have been given the benefit of the doubt by Vegas, including the LA Rams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Atlanta Falcons.

If these teams are capable of coming back stronger next season, there could be good value here.

Elsewhere, the Buffalo Bills and the Tennessee Titans who both put together respectable seasons and made the playoffs clearly have not won the bookmakers’ confidence.

The Tennessee Titans, who knocked out reigning champs New England and AFC favourites Baltimore, are priced at 25/1 while the Bills, who are thriving under fledgling quarterback Josh Allen, are out at 33/1.

Propping up the bottom of the list for Super Bowl 55 odds are the Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins who both struggled to win games this season.

Super Bowl 55 is scheduled to be played on February 7, 2021, in Tampa Bay, Florida – the home of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Raymond James Stadium will host its third Super Bowl when it plays host to the league’s championship game – the first time in 12 years.

This will be the fourth time in NFL history the Super Bowl will take place in the same state in two years in a row, and the first time since 2009 and 2010, when Florida hosted the Super Bowl in back-to-back years.
