It’s NRL round 10 tipping time

NRL round 10 tipping time is here, and as the shortened NRL season reaches the half-way point we’ve got some really interesting match-ups this week. With a repeat of last years’ Grand Final topping the bill as the defending champ Roosters take on the Canberra Raiders.

There are marquee matchups between the Sea Eagles and the Eels, and Souths taking on the Knights. There’s intrigue up and down the games this week so let’s cut the chat and get down to NRL round 10 tipping

NRL Round 10 Tipping Thursday Night: Roosters v Raiders

Canberra have been off last seasons form all season, and what better way to bounce back than a rematch of last seasons Grand Final? The Roosters have looked a different team since the resumption and with the new rule changes, and barring the late collapse against the Storm have looked like getting back to their best. Roosters will win this, but it will be closer than you might think.

The Melbourne Storm have looked like coming into some form of late after struggling with the new set restarts early on. They’re not as built to take advantage of these rules as some teams, but with Cam Smith looking back to his best against the Roosters and Raiders they will feel good.

Gold Coast continues to be a team in rebuild mode, and while they have some pieces and show flashes of great play, it’s hard to see any way they can take down the Storm. Storm for the comfortable win.

Wests host the spiraling Broncos coming off only their second win of the campaign. Is all now well in the Brisbane camp? I really don’t think so. Wests are a much-improved outfit this season and I see them winning this by at least 8. Tigers for the win.

The Dragons and Bulldogs go to war in the battle of two bad teams. No offense to either because they’re both triers. The doggies have a better defense and I can see this being more of a war of attrition than an entertaining try-fest. Bulldogs get the bone.

Not sure they'll be this friendly, but our NRL round 10 tipping guide says the Bunnies and Knights should be a great game
Not sure they’ll be this friendly, but our NRL round 10 tipping guide says the Bunnies and Knights should be a great game

The Bunnies and Knights is probably the matchup I’m most intrigued by in this week of NRL Round 10 tipping. Souths have looked good at times, and beatable at others, while Newcastle always look dangerous but I still expect them to capitulate at the end of games. Both of these teams have benefitted from the set restarts, and this could be a high scoring affair. Knights take a squeaky one back to Queensland.

The Sea Eagles have been a shadow of the team that excited everyone last term. The loss of Tom Trbojevic has hit them hard as usual with the injury-prone superstar unable to play every game, even in a shortened season. The Eels have been transcendent at times this season and baring a late-game onslaught from the Roosters have looked the real deal. Eels stay top of the ladder with the win.

What can I say about my Warriors? Every week I want to pick them to win, and some weeks they give 1000% for the whole 80 minutes. And sometimes they phone it in after 20 minutes like against the Storm (that game still gives me nightmares). Cronulla are a team I always expect to lose and I have no idea why because I am wrong so often. Sharks win to make me sad…again.

The Panthers are another team I began the season sleeping on, but they have looked so good at times this season. Big ups to my man Jason Taumalolo and his 789 post-contact meters to lead the NRL. He is an absolute wrecking ball that is so difficult to stop. I’m assuming it’s him against the rest of the Cowboys in training, and by the look of them, he probably wins. Panthers to win by a distance.
